Corrections & Complaints

Defamer aims to be accurate and fair. When we get something wrong, we fix it — promptly, and on the record. This page explains how to raise a correction, exercise a right of reply, or ask us to take content down.

Request a correction

If you believe a story contains a factual error — a wrong date, figure, name, or a mischaracterised event — please tell us via our contact form. Include the page, the specific passage, what you say is wrong, and (ideally) a source we can check. We assess every request against the public record.

Where we correct a material error, we update the page and add a dated correction note at the foot of the article, so the change is transparent.

Right of reply

If you are the subject of a story — or represent a business that is — and you believe our coverage is inaccurate or unfair, you have a right of reply. Send us your response through the contact form. We will consider it in good faith and, where appropriate, publish or summarise your response alongside the story, or amend the piece.

Complaints & takedown requests

For more serious concerns — including a claim that content is defamatory, breaches privacy, or infringes copyright — write to us via the contact form, marking your message “Legal/Complaint”. Please set out the specific words complained of, why you say they are wrong or unlawful, and how they concern you. We aim to acknowledge complaints within a few business days and to resolve them promptly and reasonably.

We would rather fix a genuine problem than argue about it. Raising a concern with us does not require a lawyer, and we treat every complaint seriously regardless of who it comes from.

• We do not act out of malice, and we are willing to reconsider on good evidence.
